Library facility usage rates

Monitoring

Whilst this measures physical use of our library which has been falling, more people are taking to technology to access services.

Against a background of four years of declining footfall in Libraries, in 2018/19, there was an increase of 0.5% in the number of physical visits to Libraries.  The increase would have been greater but for two reductions in service, which were: Leighton Buzzard Library being only partially open from 1st April 2018 to 11 June 2019 due to flood damage; and Dunstable Library being closed from December 2018 to the end of March 2019 whilst the new library was being built.  Virtual visits also increased, by 7.2%, indicating there was an overall increase in library usage.
