Proportion of adults subject to a safeguarding enquiry of those known to adult social care

Monitoring

Central Bedfordshire Council has a duty under the Care Act to make sure that adults who may be at risk of abuse or neglect are enabled to live as safely and independently as possible. The Council measures this by understanding the proportion of ‘safeguarding’ enquires it receives against the total number of Adult Social Care customers with which the Council is working.

As at September 2018, of the 6,548 adults known to Adult Social Care, 114 were subject to a safeguarding enquiry (1.7%).  This is a slight reduction of 18 from the previous quarter (April to August 2018), whilst the total number of adults known to Adult Social Care increased by 168.
