The Council monitors the average earnings for workers as a key indicator of prosperity. This measure has shown increases every year since 2012. In 2013 there was a large increase of £18.70 reported while other years have seen smaller increases. Please note that this measure previously featured a target in error. This has now been removed and the measure has changed to ‘Monitoring Only’.
The latest data (April 2018) shows a large recorded increase in the average earnings for workers in Central Bedfordshire. The average earning per week is now £546.10, an increase of £22.50 over the previous year. The Council will continue to work with businesses and educators to ensure skilled people and well paid jobs are available in Central Bedfordshire.
